More Steampunk World’s Faire Photos

These are all photographed by Richard Verlaque, an extremely talented photographer we met during our impromptu photoshoot near the parking lot, after the runway show. Depicted are Yuffie Bunny, Marc Robinson, Hillary Dragovich, and Kelly Kotulak. Ogle at their prettiness!

Hello all, Kristin here, I have finally gotten over the delectable feeling of getting hit by the truck that is a fashion show, and have some of my personal photos to share with you. I’m sure there will be many posts about this event, as there were a plethora of photographers there, and if I find my costumes in their pictures, I will gladly share them. At the moment, Anna Fischer has some lovely ones of the different designer’s looks, taken immediately after they came off the runway.

The fashion show was a fantastic event, coordinated by Brit Frady-Williams, a talented designer herself. She has actually been selected to participate in London fashion week in September this year, but like many gifted designers at this level, lacks the sufficient funds to get there. She is taking donations, and her Kickstarter project can be found HERE.  If you can, please consider giving even a little bit to this cause, and I will consider it a favor to me. Brit has really helped me to publicize my work, and is a great person to boot. If anyone deserves to go to London and show it what she’s got, it’s her.

Alright, that having been said, on to the pictures! Most if not all of these were taken by Nick Levinos, a musical fellow who is currently scoring a future show of mine!

Last week I had an amazing photoshoot with photographer Adrian Buckmaster, and makeup artist Irene Delgado. I love working with them because you can tangibly feel their passion for a project, and they have a wonderfully positive energy about them.

Here are the spectacular results, shown on my sister, Maria Costa. Feels like a Pre-Raphaelite painting, no? Eyeball necklace by Kelly, of course.

Toronto Fashion Week

THis post was a bit delayed because of the insanity that’s happened since then (Faery fest, photoshoot, Steampunk World faire, working on costumes for Christopher Williams), but better later than never, I say.  The show was with Imagozine, from Barrie, Ontario. Have some photo madness by Actionpixpro!

I suspect this is going to be another crazy week…

At Michael's studio preparing for the Red Queen / White Queen photo shoot.

On Saturday my cabinet of curiosities made an appearance at the Crafts in Chelsea street fair, sponsored by Etsy and the NewNew street team.    I was surely the picture of stoicism, shrugging off the rain, boasting the most hopeful of spirits.    I love you Chelsea folks, you found me there, and you brought the sunshine with you.    It was a beautiful afternoon until those aggressive New York winds showed up to play havoc with the tents, poor vendors holding on for dear life.   But despite the soggy morning and the afternoon weather tantrum it was an awesome event and I was glad to be a part of it.

Yesterday I returned to the studio of photographer Michael Gwilliam to discuss the Balticon show and plan our next shoot.    An absolute gentleman and outstanding talent, its pleasure to work with this fellow, always patient, always a pro, alway ready to handle the madness we bring to his doorstep.    Also present was Chistina Leonis of ethereal rock duo Cor Leonis ( http://www.cor-leonis.org ) A kindred spirit and a welcome surprise!   I’m hoping to cast this witchy waif in a future project.

Man alive, I am exhausted.   I might slink off to my studio to do some tinkering in anticipation of the Steampunk World’s fair.

Steampunk World’s Fair, my people!

Kris, could you cover this one?

This is Kelly, slinking off to dreamland…

Take a left at the rainbow, and a right at the ponies…

Kristen had just returned from fashion week, I was struggling out from beneath the all consuming-chaos of my studio- We barely time to catch our breath before we were packing up our gypsy trailer and heading out into the country, out into the vast and shimmering green, past quaint Amish folk, windmills, and mysteriously-scented mushroom farms, until we climbed a winding road into the wild, rambling farmland known as Sproutwood.  Just when we feared we were lost, some helpful fellow with bells on is trousers and twigs in his hair guy stepped forth and pointed the way:  “Ok, you take a left at the rainbow, and a right at the ponies. Go all the way back until you reach the ham.”  We knew we had arrived.

And that is where we staked our tent, right next to the smoked ham, with the valley behind us and a procession of the most wonderiferous creatures before us.    Thank you for having us, Sproutwood!  Thank you faery folk for making us feel so welcome!     Here are some of my favorite photos from the weekend.  Enjoy!  And if you have any of your own May Day photos to share we would love to see them.

No rest for the wicked…

Hello my curious creatures!  It’s Kelly here with a long-over-due report on our April shenanigans.

What went on in Toronto?  From what evidence I’ve seen, it was a wild show.  Kristin shall have to report on that.   Kristin shall have to dig up more pictures for us as well.  What a tease!

But here we are freshly returned from the May Day Faery Festival, our very first show under the fresh new banner of Kuriouser & Kuriouser!

We love you fabulous faery folk!  You are treasures, delights to behold!  Thank you for your love and hospitality, your wonder and curiosity, for your wish-dust and your lucky acorns.  Thank you for stepping into our world and making us feel believed in.

I have pictures to share, rosy hued recollections, and more, but those shall have to wait until tomorrowish!

No rest for the wicked!

Mad as a March Hare

Greetings all! This is Kelly, freshly returned to Brooklyn after my Vermont escape (having indulged in two weeks of forested paths and family dogs and rides in the big red truck) and I’m plunging right back into the thick of it with plans enough to drown in!

Kristin is headed up north for Toronto’s Alternative arts and Fashion week where she will be marching her work down the runway with Imago.zine presenting a carnal cavalcade of stylings on the themes of LOVE and LUST. Best of luck on your northbound adventure, Kris! May Canada welcome you with open arms!

Meanwhile, I’m settling back into Brooklyn, already swamped, my May calender already a mess of busy scribblings. Tonight is GO magazine’s Nightlife Awards. Tomorrow maybe I’ll get this wrecked studio in order.

Taking a deep breath!
-Kelly
